Mickie James confronted Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss

Does Alexa Bliss deserve more respect than she gets? By any measure, the self-dubbed “Goddess” of WWE has been a successful Raw Women’s Champion. Dominant, even. And with SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya lying in wait at WWE Survivor Series, Alexa has the opportunity to claim cross-brand supremacy.

But Bliss found herself uncharacteristically riled up by the audience’s refusal to tell her “You deserve it,” as the WWE Universe instead poured out their adulation for Mickie James after her heartfelt effort against Bliss in their WWE TLC title bout. When the audience still refrained from giving Bliss her props, the six-time Women’s Champion James arrived to plant Bliss with a pitch-perfect DDT — the only thing, Mickie said, Alexa truly deserved.

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss def. Mickie James

Mickie James did everything she was supposed to do at WWE TLC. She came ready to fight, brought a chip on her shoulder, and even embarrassed Alexa Bliss by chasing her away and slapping her, erm, biscuit butt, when she tried to flee. And it still wasn’t enough to make her the Raw Women’s Champion.
Alexa still holds that distinction despite the all-world efforts of James, who (in a stroke of irony) was originally brought back into the fold as an ally of Bliss during Little Miss Bliss’ days as SmackDown Women’s Champion. That gave the challenger some familiarity with the champion’s move set, and James’ veteran abilities quickly showed Alexa that she might have bitten off more than she could chew when she tried to frame James’ veteran status as an old lady trying to relive her glory days. James’ three consecutive kip-ups each time Alexa slammed Mickie onto the mat were certainly a far cry from geriatric, to say nothing of the savage elbows and pinpoint kicks that James thought would carry her to Title No. 7.

What Mickie perhaps didn’t count on was that Alexa would resort to dirty tactics, but the champ did just that, nearly yanking James’ arm out of its socket before focusing exclusively on a torturous array of shoulder submissions. Despite being clearly hampered by the injury, James transitioned seamlessly to using both her educated feet and her good arm, pausing only occasionally for a high-risk maneuver like a top-rope dropkick.

The bout got so intense that the WWE Universe thought for a moment that tables were going to get involved. But inches from the brink, it took only one quick sequence by Bliss — yanking Mickie face-first into the turnbuckle and striking with a DDT — to put the match away. And even though an emotional James could barely hold back her tears in a post-match interview, she promised the WWE Universe this wouldn’t be the last time she contended for a Women’s Title. It’s tough not to believe her; As the chant goes, she’s still got it.

Has Alexa Bliss made a massive mistake for the “ages”?

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss clearly isn’t one to respect her elders, but after Mickie James’ Little Miss Bliss beatdown this past Monday night, she might need to start.

“The Goddess of WWE’s” mind games have lit a fire within the six-time Women’s Champion, making it seem all the more likely that she’ll add a seventh reign to her list of accolades when she battles Alexa at WWE TLC. Will the increasingly aggressive Mickie keep the arrogant titleholder on the defensive before their title showdown?

Mickie James def. Nia Jax via Disqualification

With Mickie James circling Alexa Bliss, it appears the Raw Women’s Champion and Nia Jax’s on-again-off-again partnership is on, again. Though, if what happened during Jax’s bout with Mickie (a match seemingly finagled by Alexa after a backstage prank put James in the path of Little Miss Bliss’ occasional enforcer) is any indication, even that might not be enough to hold James back in the long run.

Not only did Mickie refuse to give in despite a powerful display from Jax, the six-time Women’s Champion James pulled off a miracle reversal to hit a tornado DDT off the ropes. The move seemed like such a surefire match-ender that Bliss broke up the ensuing pinfall attempt, handing James a disqualification victory. A post-match Mick Kick to Little Miss Bliss left Alexa humiliated for the second straight week, but her combined effort against both Superstars was enough to land Mickie what she was looking for since the beginning: A Raw Women’s Title Match at WWE TLC.

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James

Mickie James will have the opportunity to reclaim her former glory and capture her seventh Women’s Title when she steps into the squared circle against the very formidable Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss at WWE TLC on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Ironically, when Mickie returned to WWE this past January, it was to help Alexa retain the gold when she was part of SmackDown LIVE. However, the reemerging Superstar quickly learned what so many ladies have found out the hard way: The “goddess of WWE” only has one loyal friend where the title is concerned: herself. While that approach might not seem so nice, you can’t argue with the results of a proven winning strategy.

However, after retaining her Raw Women’s Title in a Fatal 5-Way Match in September at WWE No Mercy, Alexa once again drew the ire of the celebrated competitor when she made the mistake of bad-mouthing Mickie on a post pay-per-view edition of Raw Talk. Dismissing Mickie as being an “old lady” the following week on Raw, her words were met with a pair of slaps and a fierce kick that sent Little Miss Bliss tumbling out of the ring.

Following some backstage antics at her expense one week later, Mickie went on to fight a tough battle against Alexa’s on again/off again best friend, Nia Jax. When Alexa got involved, Mickie walked away with the victory by disqualification.

In the aftermath, Mickie’s impressive victory over Nia as well as her decorated history led Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to award the former champion a title match on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Like her or hate her, outspoken four-time Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss can back up every word she says in the ring. However, does Mickie James still have what it takes to overcome the crafty champion and reclaim her spot at the top of the mountain? Find out what will happen, Sunday, Oct. 22, at 8 ET/5 PT.

How will Alexa Bliss respond to Mickie James’ attack?

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss had no issue calling Mickie James “an old lady” this past Monday night, but after suffering two slaps and a high-heeled kick to the face from the six-time Women’s Champion, Little Miss Bliss might have learned a painful lesson in respect. Then again, we also doubt that she’s apologetic about what she said.

“The Goddess of WWE” is undoubtedly regretting bringing Mickie back to WWE earlier this year. What will she have to say about the veteran Superstar on Raw?

What will be the fallout from chaotic Raw Woman’s Champion Fatal 5-Way Match?

Yes, Alexa Bliss emerged victorious against the odds in an extremely turbulent Fatal 5-Way Raw Women’s Championship Match at WWE No Mercy, but how will the chaotic free-for-all transform the Women’s division moving forward? Can Alexa and Nia Jax just go back to being best friends? What about Bayley and Sasha Banks? Who came out of the fray in the best position to challenge the “Goddess of WWE” next?

Moreover, the announcement that dominant former NXT Champion Asuka will make her main roster debut at WWE TLC will surely make for an even more unstable Women’s division.

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss def. Sasha Banks, Bayley, Nia Jax and Emma (Fatal 5-Way Match)

One huggable home-state hero, one legit boss, one self-proclaimed Women’s Revolutionary, one powerhouse, no problem. Alexa Bliss is still Raw Women’s Champion, defying every odd imaginable to withstand a wild Fatal 5-Way that put her in the path of Sasha Banks, Emma, Nia Jax and Bayley, who was making her in-ring return after suffering a shoulder injury last month.

The match, unsurprisingly, turned into a game of cat-and-mice, with everyone not named Nia Jax uniting against the mighty Superstar in their attempt to take the most impactful player out of the game. At one point, Emma attempted to do so by herself — just one of many audacious undertakings she took in order to finally prove to the WWE Universe that she should be recognized as the originator of the Women’s Revolution.

But no amount of boldness could distract from the Nia Jax show; she pulverized everyone and everything in sight, most spectacularly with a double Samoan Drop to both Bliss and Banks. It took two group efforts by all four opponents to take her out — first, a simple dump out of the ring, and later, a savage combo of a double dropkick/powerbomb off the ring apron to the floor.
That second attempt, for a while at least, did the job, and what ensued was a chaotic free-for-all. Sasha and Bayley even came as close to blows as they have since their time together in NXT, breaking up each other’s respective finishers and trading pinfall attempts on a beleaguered Bliss.

The resurgence of Jax stopped the action cold, though Emma proved herself an unlikely hero by saving Banks from a pinfall after Nia dropped a leg on her sternum. Bliss quickly got involved by ejecting Emma from the ring, and an intended charge into the corner finally took Nia out of the action when she missed her target and collided with the turnbuckle. Bliss threw Bayley into Emma as she attempted to interfere and planted The Huggable One with a devastating DDT for the victory.

If you thought Alexa would be humbled by the odds she had to overcome, however, you’d be mistaken. In a post-match interview with Renee Young, Bliss claimed she stood above the stars of Hollywood as Raw’s one and only Women’s Champion and the only true “Goddess” in WWE. In fairness, this is true. There aren’t many people who have been able to stand toe-to-toe with the “Goddess” … so far.

WWE Raw preview, Sept. 18, 2017: Nia Jax battles “The Goddess of WWE” one-on-one

Just six nights before Alexa Bliss defends her Raw Women’s Championship in a Fatal 4-Way Match at WWE No Mercy, she’ll have to take on one of her challengers, the imposing Nia Jax, in singles action on Raw. Will Little Miss Bliss once again regret getting on the bad side of the forceful Jax?

Ever since Nia Jax dropped Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss moments after “The Goddess of WWE” reclaimed her title from Sasha Banks, the WWE Universe has been clamoring for a one-one-one match between the two former friends, and Raw General Manager Kurt Angle was more than happy to oblige.

Six nights before Jax, Sasha Banks and Emma challenge Alexa in a Fatal 4-Way Match at WWE No Mercy, Nia squares off with Little Miss Bliss one-on-one on Raw. Can Jax shake Alexa’s confidence before next Sunday’s title match?

Are Alexa Bliss’ days numbered as Raw Women’s Champion?
What was once a singles rematch at WWE No Mercy pitting Sasha Banks against Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss has transformed into a Fatal 4-Way Match that also includes Nia Jax and Emma after the two earned their way into the title bout by picking up a tag team victory over The Boss and Little Miss Bliss last week.

There’s no love lost between any of the competitors in this matchup, but with Jax and the opportunistic Emma added to the mix, the so-called “Goddess of WWE’s” chances of leaving the STAPLES Center with the Raw Women’s Title are slim to none. Will these unfavorable odds shake Alexa’s confidence as WWE No Mercy approaches?
